Dominic and Me leaping

Dominic and Me leaping

I’m dancing with sjDANCEco this October 2nd and 3rd at the California Theatre located in downtown San Jose. It’s a gorgeous space and I’m so excited about dancing with such a great company!

Tickets are $27 if you buy them either through me or the box office by the end of September.  Otherwise, it’s $32 at the door — no, this is not general seating, folks!  One of the things I love about this theatre, aside from it’s lush history and architecture, is the fact that there really isn’t a “bad” seat in the house.

So come check me out!  I can’t wait to see you all there!

Digital Footprint

// April 28th, 2009 // No Comments » // Commentary

This is something that has been on my mind a lot lately.  You hear that you should be mindful of your digital footprint and how you interact on the internet.  Stories of people losing their jobs or having to explain things done on their off hours is nothing new.  With this in mind, I sat down and took a look at what my activities are online and what kind of impact this has on me.

I’m a dancer, an avid sci-fi fanboy, a dog lover, and a teacher.  Sometimes these different interest intersect, but not often.  We all have professional and personal sides to ourselves and I find that, online, the line between the “public” and “personal” me get blurred.  How does one separate these personas?   I’ve tried filtering and having different pseudonames, but invariably there is not much of a definitive break from the two.

I’ve been online since I was fourteen.  I’m no longer the obnoxious kid (I would hope) that I was back then and my views have changed since then.  The downside of the internet is that it retains EVERYTHING.   That embarassing moment you had when you put your foot in your mouth?  It’s saved forever to posterity online!  One only has to Google for it.

How do you manage your public (professional) and private (last weekend’s bender with your old college buddies) identities online?  How do you brand yourself?

MONTPELIER, Vt. – Vermont on Tuesday became the fourth state to legalize gay marriage — and the first to do so with a legislature’s vote.

The House recorded a dramatic 100-49 vote — the minimum needed — to override Gov. Jim Douglas’ veto. Its vote followed a much easier override vote in the Senate, which rebuffed the Republican governor with a vote of 23-5.

Vermont was the first state to legalize civil unions for same-sex couples and joins Connecticut, Massachusetts and Iowa in giving gays the right to marry. Their approval of gay marriage came from the courts.

I’m giving this WordPress thing another go. I still have my Livejournal that I’m cross-posting to, but I really should make use of my domain name — if only for reasons of self-indulgence.
